Wook Mommy A Worm....

that's what Isaiah said to me as I was pulling carrots out of the garden and throwing them to Ethan on Monday. Little did I know I would see "this" when I looked up.

Birds Nest In Our Tomatoes- Take Two

We found this birds nest in our tomatoes a couple of weeks ago. We think it is a wren's nest. It has 4 eggs. The mother is on the nest most of the time now and she doesn't fly away even when I'm picking tomatoes about 6 inches from her. There is a whole bunch of tomatoes right above her nest. I have picked the biggest one so that it doesn't fall on the eggs.
If you look really close in this picture you can see the momma bird in the middle looking up at me.

(The pictures should all be zoomable now. Not sure what I did different.)

The weather around here...

has not been very conducive to line drying clothes. We got close to 2 1/2 inches of rain yesterday (it seems that most of that came between 5:30 and 6:30 am with lots of lightning and thunder). The vegetables like it though. Here are the green peppers. A big one...
and a little bitty one!Along with some really pretty clouds.
The tomatoes are really starting to multiply! Check out the cute little one on the right hand side. It only ended up being about the size of a cherry tomato. I do not have a green thumb, but these tomatoes have done really well this year. I like them because they are not real watery and don't have a lot of seeds. They are called "First Lady".

From the garden to the table

Onions...they really could stand to get a little bigger, but they worked. Lettuce
The meal...shish kabobs with chicken (marinated in Italian dressing) with onions and green peppers, lettuce with cheddar cheese, and mandarin oranges.

My tomatoes

I'm so proud. I don't even eat tomatoes. I may make some salsa though. I originally just planned to "bless" someone else with them if they turned out.

The Garden Today

The corn.

Our gardens

About a week or so ago, we got most of our gardens planted. We added a second garden this year for watermelon, pumpkins, and sweet corn. In the first garden we have banana peppers, green peppers, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, radishes, green beans, and onions.

I also planted marigolds around the edge. I think that is supposed to keep the rabbits out. If nothing else, it looks pretty. I will add updated pictures soon. Several of the veggies have popped up, along with some weeds.
