Works for Me

This is my tip. When I'm cooking and using spices, it drives me nuts to pull the little lids with the holes off so that I can get my measuing spoon into the spice. Most of those spices I would never "sprinkle" on anything anyways (ginger, allspice, etc). I am in the process of getting rid of the shaker hole lids (there has got to be a better name than that, ha ha) on those spices. Others like cinnamon, I will leave on. See picture below.

I do that too. If someone is visiting and helping in the kitchen, I try to remember to warn them that none of my spice jars have the shaker lids in them!

That's the first thing I do. It makes thing much easier.

So smart! Those little lids irritate me too. Now I'm going to remove them.

I don't measure any of my spices when I cook, I just throw stuff in and cook to taste....that's why I don't bake much, because I hate how you have to measure everything out to be precise with it...cooking is much more fun for me because I can be creative with it.

you can use the shaker lids for crafts! make necklaces out of them. the boys can decorate them with a big sticker, or glue and glitter. Don't throw them out though! Besides that, when the jar is empty you can put the shaker back on and let the boys use them in the sand box or the bath tub! They can pretend the sand is spices! :)
