Cheap Makeover

Every year there is a spring and fall trash pickup. People throw out all kinds of things, not just trash. Last year I found a box of magazines (almost all ones I like), a pair of women's Old Navy jeans almost brand new, a stroller (that I turned around and sold at our garage sale), some boys clothes, a purse with some change in it, and this Coca Cola tapestry fabric. There were at least 2 yards and it still had the tag from Walmart on it. Originally it cost over $20.

I decided to use the fabric to make some pillows. I kept my eyes open at the thrift stores and finally found two the size that I wanted. After washing them with hot water and detergent, they were ready to be covered.

I finally got one covered on Saturday night and I'm so proud of myself, first of all for finally getting something done that has been sitting around, and secondly I think it turned out pretty well. Now if my mother in law will just come help me re-thread her sewing machine I can finish the other one. Ha ha.I think I have enough fabric for 2 more pillows and so far my only cost has been about $3.

I can't believe you covered a mickey pillow but you did a good job. Doesn't it feel good to make something yourself.
