Today there were 7 children in my care. The oldest was 14 and the youngest was 1. The 14 year old doesn't need a lot of supervision, so I put him to work making pancakes for lunch. I mixed up the batter (recipe x6) and then he filled the orders.
We made all kinds of pancakes. Plain, blueberry, chocolate chip, chocolate chip and blueberry, and chocolate/vanilla swirl.
We also made:
Salted caramel: Chocolate pancake with whipped cream, caramel syrup, and sea salt sprinkled on top.
Smore: Pancake with chocolate chips, graham cracker pieces, and micro marshmallows. These were really rich and yummy. I had whipped cream on mine. Unfortunately, the marshmallows and graham crackers blended into the pancake. May try graham flour next time or wait to add the graham cracker pieces and marshmallows until one side has cooked instead of just adding them to the batter.
Two that I wanted to try, but forgot...
Chocolate Covered Strawberry Chocolate pancake with strawberries and chocolate chips.
Pancake with coconut and chocolate chips and caramel syrup.
Do you have any unique pancake recipes or favorite toppings for pancakes or waffles?

Brain Picking Session
(sorry for those of you who were hoping for noses, today I need your brains!)
Tomorrow evening Tim and I are going to talk with a lady who will be a potential babysitter for the boys. I do not know her. I got her number out of the paper. She is just starting day care and I don't believe she has any other kids yet. She has an 8 month old daughter of her own and works third shift, but wants to do day care so that she can stay home with her baby. That's all I know.
Here is where I am looking for input. What kinds of questions should I ask her, what should I look for in her home, how much are the going rates for home day care? I know some of you have some extensive experience with this, so spill your knowledge!
When I called her cell phone, there was some music playing while waiting for her to answer. It was Casting Crowns "The Voice of Truth". I don't know if she gets to pick her own music or not, but it was very reassuring to have Christian music come on!

Sickness has left the building...we hope!
It looks like everyone is on the mend. Isaiah threw up once on Monday morning, but I think that was more because I let him have milk. Ethan threw up several times on Monday night (including throwing up the anti-nausea medicine), but was fine yesterday. I think he only had the 4 hour flu. We never did have to take anyone to the Dr.
Today I hope to get some cleaning done to get rid of any last lingering germs!
An update on the babysitting situation: Tim's parents are watching the boys till the end of the year. I have had a couple possible leads, but no one has called me yet. I have one lady from work who said she will watch them on days that our regular sitter can't. That in itself is nice to know! I also found 2 numbers in the paper yesterday that I will be calling.
My excitement from yesterday was getting my Walgreens rebate gift card!! Now whenever I get rebates, they will just automatically load it on to that card and I won't have to wait for it in the mail. Plus I make an extra 10% for having them put it on the card.
