First I made a rub for the chicken. I used the recipe found here. The chicken (picked up for a very reasonable price at Aldi).
Oh yeah. I forgot to mention that when I asked Tim to bring home a can of beer, he brought me a can of Coke. Oh well, it still works! Plus it was much more fun to chug half a can of Coke before placing the chicken on top...
You have to stick an onion or potato in the neck cavity ( I know, sounds appetizing eh?) to keep the juices inside the bird.
Roasting in the oven...
Ta da!
The final meal. The chicken was yummy. I'd like to play around with different beverages inside (Tim wants to do root beer) and some different rubs. The boys also enjoyed it and even did well picking their own chicken off the bones. It is a rather bland looking meal though. I probably should have made carrots or something else to make the plate pop. :)

I have seen that done on the Food Network. It is suppose to make the meat very juicy! I'm glad it worked for you. Looks good!!
Clean your oven!!!!
Just kidding. That looks delicious. I am waiting for my invitation for dinner. Once the lousesquids are gone for good...
I had never seen it done in the oven, just on the grill
Never heard of that before, but I would have picked coke instead too. :) I'll have to give you Sean's Pub Fondue recipe someday. It's our favorite meal.
BTW, thanks for the photo!
Apparently, if you plug the neck w/ half a lemon and put a can of sprite inside, it's supposed to be knock your socks off delicious!!! :) I love lemon chicken, so, for me, that would probably be heaven. Looks like it was fun and yummy!
We've made it before and it turned out pretty yummy. I think the lemon kind sounds delicious!
Todd made a whole chicken the other day that was really juicy. You put celery in the cavity and season it all up real well and add butter inside and out.
