Prayer Request

I just received an email from my friend Jen (OK, she's Jen to the rest of the world, but to me she will always be Jenny!). Anyways, I thought I would share part of it. I'm thinking that she will be OK with that. Jen and her family recently moved from Ohio to Washington.

"i was hoping i could ask you to put Darren and i on your prayer list/in your thoughts, etc.....

we got a call last night from "*" police department that our house (in Ohio) was flooded......we didn't know how bad it was until today....

there isn't one room in the house that isn't going to have to be completely gutted and refit, and there may be damage to the main structure as well. we are still investigating what happened and why, we are certain it wasn't the cold because (as you'll see in the pix) we had the thermostat on. yes, set low, but, it was on to keep the house at a low temp, but warm enough to keep pipes from freezing......

needless to say, we are very thankful that we weren't in the house when it happened, but, as I'm sure you can imagine, this is absolutely devastating for us (emotionally, financially, you name it, devastating!)

we have hopes of moving back to Ohio in 2009. Seattle is beautiful, but, nothing is more beautiful than being with our family and friends and we have decided that we don't want to be away from everyone anymore......if things go poorly with the house, our hopes of moving back may be put on hold, or all together out of the question.

however.....God is good to me. We weren't in the house (the ceiling in the room that would have been Dexter's nursery caved in!) and we have pretty good home owner's insurance. AND, it wasn't a fire, so, we are truly blessed!!! Just sad and trying to stay optimistic at the moment. Ahhh, life can be so bittersweet sometimes!

anyway, if you could pray for us, it would be greatly GREATLY appreciated. "

Please join me in praying for Jen, Darren and baby Dexter as they deal with this situation.

God,

Thank you first of all for the safety of this family. It's no coincidence that they moved out of that house a few months before this occurred. This flooding was not a surprise or a shock to you.

We ask that you would give Jen and Darren peace about this situation. We know that "in all things you work for the good of those who love you". What seems to be a bad situation has some purpose in your plan for their lives.

Dear God, you know the desire of their hearts is to move back to Ohio (and we would love nothing more). I pray that you would provide them with a quick insurance return, affordable supplies, and reliable help to get the house fixed. I pray that if it is your will, that you would open doors and make all of this possible.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen
