Deals

This week's groceries. I spent a total of $31.39 at Meijer. If our Meijer would double above .50, it would have been even cheaper, but they don't. I have really been inspired by Crystal at Money Saving Mom to try and keep our grocery budget around $35 (although she just recently went to $40 a week and that's for everything, not just food). As I've said before, it helps that we already have a freezer full of beef. We also utilize Angel Food from time to time and that gives us a lot of other "main dish" type items as well as sides for $30 a month. I also water down my vitamin D milk, so that makes one gallon into two. The bag in the middle of the pile is 2 1/2 lbs. of grapes. With the purchase of the sausage, we got 3 more coupons for free bowling, so we can all go for free now. I also picked up next year's egg decorating kit on clearance. Tim wanted Life cereal and it was on sale this week, otherwise I would not have bought more cereal. 20 or so boxes seems to be good for now. Ha ha. It amazes me how much people spend on groceries a week. If I had their $200 a week budget, just think of the damage I could do with coupons and deals!

Wow that is really good. I went to Meijer yesterday and forgot the few coupons I had at home. I don't know you all do it. It is just too time consuming for me!

msm has good tips but Jamie and I try hard to find it other places because she is not a very nice person and she makes it sound like she is poor and we know that is FAR from the truth! I find her to be very self serving and not very honest.

Good deals! That stinks that your Meijer doesn't double above .50. Goodness, that makes a big difference. In central Ohio, the meijer coupon policy is thew very best. They double up to a dollar every day. so .75 is a 1.50. I would love that!!

you should come down here and shop with me at Meijer to get your double coupons!!! :) Like Sonya said, they double up to 99 cents. So if you have a 99 cent coupon you'd get 1.98 off. woohoo!! sometimes they have days when they double up to 1.00. So you can get 2.00 for a 1.00 coupon. I'll have to let you know the next time they do that.

I have to draw the line at watering down milk...that is something I just can't do.

Well, it works well for me. My boys are big milk drinkers. They don't like to drink water as much. By watering down Vitamin D milk, they are getting the fat they need (pretty close to 2% milk after watered down) and they are getting water too.

Mine will drink water and I water down juice if they have not had enough...though most of the time they would drink water not juice. I hope that you come by my new house the next time you are in town.

if watering down milk is safe and that easy, I will be doing it. I researched it today and just read opinions about it. I am going to ask my boys' doctor. I would love to pay half for milk. I read that the fats can't be seperated equally when mixed with water so some of the milk will be filled wiht fat while others will be white water. Again, that was opinion, I think, not a doctor. My boys get so much milk that the fat is not an issue anyway...they get plenty of fat. The calcuim is what they need the most of and I would imagine that would be equally divided. Milk is outrageously priced so I am looking into it.
