A Godly Woman

"To me, a godly woman is one who possesses inner peace and tranquility; she doesn't have to prove herself to anyone. She is strong, and yet she doesn't use her strength to control or dominate people; neither does she depend on recognition from others. Hers is an inner contentment and satisfaction based not on accomplishments, position, or authority, but on a deep awareness of God's eternal and personal love for her". -Emilie Barnes

I think this quote is more about being self confident and feeling peace and contentment inside. Something that you can just feel and know inside without having to try and prove it in any way. I don't think it means that you have to be a certain way or anything like that. You know that feeling of inner peace and contentment - it is when everything just seems right with your world, in your heart and mind. And I think what Emilie Barnes is saying is that when you have a deep awareness of God's eternal and personal love, then you will finally feel that total inner peace, tranquility, strength, and contentment - nothing else will give you that - not power, position, or accomplishments. Make sense?
That is how I took the quote as meaning. I don't think it is meant to make anyone feel bad or tell you to act or be someone you are not in order to be godly.

I take it to mean that, a godly woman is content with herself because she knows that God loves her, no matter what. I don't think this means that she doesn't go out and have accomplishments and goals, but that if these things fail, she still has inner peace. I feel God's love for me deeply, but it doesn't mean I'm a demur, quiet woman just sitting and exuding peace. I have a job that I know I'm good at, and this helps to fulfull me, because it's part of who I am, and part of who God intended me to be. But, even when the job goes badly, I still have that inner peace because I know that he's there, no matter what.
Of course, I still get insecure sometimes, who doesn't? And it's still nice to get accolades (sp) from others. But I think the goal is to not depend on those things for your own self worth.

I'm working on a response to all of the comments. I will probably post it as a new post as it will be pretty long. It may not be until tomorrow.
