Christians

Christians - By Maya Angelou

When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'. "I'm whispering "I was lost,Now I'm found and forgiven.

"When I say.. "I am a Christian"I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble And need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak

And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed

And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible

But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"I still feel the sting of pain. I have my share of heartaches

So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner

Who received God's good grace, somehow!

More people should actually live by those words!!!

Alot people think that being a Christian means to be perfect and it means the total opposite and alot of people don't get that at all! That's why so many people think Christians are hypocrites, because they don't understand what being a Christian means.

A lot of people think that being a Christians makes them better than others or gives them a right to judge others, which is the exact opposite. It's sad, it really turns people off from Christianity.

I agree but I think that it doesn't take much to turn non-Christians off of Christianity. Sometimes Christians are not judging as much as choosing not to partake in sinful activities. I do think that Christians have to be very careful to live a life that is pleasing to God and that is a great example to others. It is hard. If we,as Christinas could have every non-believer read this poem when we meet them to explain our position, that would be great. It says a lot.
