Motivation for Moms

12/7/2006
Pray that your children will be content with the things that they have, as the apostle Paul lived as example. That they will learn to be happy with as much or as little as they are given.

Pllllllleasssse! I agree that Paul was a great man and follower of God but I just get tired of hearing that children need to learn so early to not "want". I do agree with trying to teach them to be content but I think this thinking really goes further, and a lot of people think that a child with a lot does not appreciate things. My kids basically own a toy store and they are very appreciative. I have to say that Sammy has NEVER thrown a fit over buying a toy etc. They really can have both. I think to take away the grandparent's joy of buying cool toys or taking them places, or even taking that joy from a mom is nuts. There are so many other ways to teach that. I don't see all these experts not getting their nails done, or hair frosted. Extra's do not make us non-christians. I do not buy any extras for myself because they do nothing for me. My kids, I love to buy for. Okay,I feel better.....

Something I do with my kids when they tell me they "need" something is to say "Do you "need" it or do you "want" it. I just want them to recognize needs and wants as two different things.

I think that is great.
