Lollipop Concert

Last weekend Tim and I took the boys to a "Lollipop Concert". It was done by a local Symphony Youth Orchestra. One of the girls from our church plays violin in the orchestra. The concert was done for children. It is to introduce them to the sights and sounds of the orchestra without having to sit still and be quiet like in a real concert. We sat on the gym floor. They showcased each of the different instruments and then they let the kids conduct the orchestra if they wanted to. Tyler directed it, but due to some technical difficulties we didn't get a good picture. One of the songs featured a typewriter and it was so neat. I tried to tape it, but accidentally turned the sound off, so....
this is our friend, Nick, conducting.

and this is Alexandra as she was introduced.

that is a great idea. One time the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra did a night celebrating the music of Star Wars and instead of having at the big Conservatory, they had it a big outdoor amphitheater. We took the kids to that and I loved that I got to introduce them to the symphony in a kid friendly environment. It was fun!!
